Exposure to light and stress

The birthday of one of your loved ones is fast approaching and you have set yourself a very specific goal: to find THE unique gift that will mark the occasion.

Head to the mall, happy to have the day off for this and have plenty of time to find the right gem.

After 5 hours in the shops, without having seen natural light, you feel nervous, tired, with a feeling of suffocation.

You may not know this, but it's all partly due to the inappropriate light exposure from stores.

More and more people are affected by stress caused by poor exposure to light: excessive exposure to blue light from screens, unsuitable lighting and breaking the circadian cycle.

This is not a topic to be taken lightly as chronic stress has a negative impact on health and well-being. Here are three tips to limit the stress caused by bad light.

But how can you optimize your exposure to light to reduce stress?

N°1 : Reduce exposure to bright light in the evening

While sunlight has huge benefits for our health, exposure to bright lights outside of daylight hours can have detrimental effects on an individual's sleep and mood.

You've probably heard of blue light and its harmful effects. Well, this advice is actually valid for any light that is too bright.

Limit your exposure to these lights at least two hours before bedtime.

N°2 : Use the right lighting

Bright, flashing lights, shadows, and reflections can strain the eyes, cause headaches, and cause stress.

To limit these effects, it is recommended to use soft, uniform lighting with an appropriate color temperature.

Direct light sources, such as halogen lamps or spotlights, should be avoided in favor of indirect lighting, such as floor lamps or pendant lamps.

N°3 : Create a relaxing environment

To limit light-related stress, it is important to create a relaxing environment in living and working spaces. Plants, paintings, cushions or curtains can help reduce the impact of light on the body and mind.

Soft, calming colors, such as blue or green, can also help create a relaxed atmosphere.

By following these simple tips, it is possible to reduce the negative impact of light on health and well-being. But it gets even simpler!

To address all these issues, we have developed a light bulb that automatically adapts its temperature and intensity according to the time of day, just like the circadian cycle.
