Salon éclairé par La Boréale

laqi imagines another way to light our interiors. A light that follows the sun, from morning to evening, to reconnect our homes with the rhythms of the living world.

At laqi, everything starts with the living world. We design objects inspired by nature that accompany everyone's rhythms of life. Beyond technology, we seek to create interiors that are softer, more natural, and more attentive to those who inhabit them.

A passion for better living

We are passionate about light, design, and how they influence our daily lives. We imagine objects that make the home more pleasant to live in, by combining attention to detail, technology, and inspiration from the living world. Each creation is born from this desire to do better and to rethink our relationship with light.

At the root of the vision

It all began in the light bulb aisle at a Castorama, where Joff Turner worked as a student starting at age 19. He saw thousands of light bulbs, all identical, shining the same way at noon as they did at midnight. Ten years later, in March 2022, he founded laqi with a simple idea: light that changes with the sun, all on its own.

How it all began

We spend most of our days under constant artificial light, cut off from the natural variations of the day. An omnipresent phenomenon, rarely questioned.

laqi was born from this question: what if the light in our homes followed our own? To answer this, we relied on research in chronobiology, which studies the effect of light on our internal clock. Our algorithm is the result: it adjusts the color and intensity of the light according to the path of the sun and your wake-up and sleep times. Solar and invigorating in the morning, it gently warms up and dims in the evening, without you having to adjust a thing.

After three years of research and development, the first products arrived in January 2025. Since then, the range has expanded, and La Boréale received the silver medal at the 2026 Concours Lépine. The ambition remains the same: to rethink our relationship with light, room after room, moment after moment.

laqi wouldn't exist without the dozens of people who helped, each in their own way, bring this vision to life. Thank you, all of you.
